Beyond Borders Storyline

Beyond Borders is an epic tale of the turbulent romance between two star-crossed lovers set against the backdrop of the world's most dangerous hot spots. Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie stars as Sarah Jordan, an American living in London in 1984. She is married to Henry Bauford (Linus Roache) son of a wealthy British industrialist, when she encounters Nick Callahan (Clive Owen) a renegade doctor, whose impassioned plea for help to support his relief efforts in war-torn Africa moves her deeply. As a result, Sarah embarks upon a journey of discovery that leads to danger, heartbreak and romance in the far corners of the world.

FACT: A Khmer Rouge officer claims he only answers to god, when in fact the Khmer Rouge brutally surpressed everyone who did not abandon their religion. The Khmer Rouge believed in only one thing, and that was 'Angkar', the ruling body of the Khmer Rouge.
MISC: Jimmy Bauford is 4 years old in the 1989 segment and 10 years old in the 1995 segment. He is played by the same child actor in both segments, and he does not age a day.
GEOG: Sarah says that Namibia is on the Ivory Coast of Africa, when it actually is on the Skeleton Coast.
FACT: The Khmer Rouge in the movie wear green uniforms, when in fact the soldiers' historical clothing was black.
DATE: When the police van drives the Ethiopian boy to the airport in England, they drive past an Air Transat jet. The scene takes place in 1984, while Air Transat made its inaugural flight on 14 November 1987.
